Position Focus: Reporting to the University Chief Information Officer, with dotted-line responsibility to the Yale New Haven Health System (YNHHS) Chief Information Officer, this position provides strategic guidance and operational support for the effective use of Information Technology in the School of Medicine, School of Nursing, School of Public Health, and Yale Health. Develop close working relationships with senior IT staffs at the University and YNHHS, as well as departmental IT teams. Essential Duties 1. Assures appropriate representation of divisional needs in central planning and technology prioritization, as well as assists to align resources from each of the IT teams in daily delivery. 2. Establishes and nurtures trusted relationships with colleagues in delivering comprehensive IT systems, services, and support. 3. Works to integrate and simplify diffuse services and complex network of providers in ways that simplify user experience and provides seamless coverage. 4. Leads the development of long-term IT strategy in consultation with divisional leadership and contributes to the overall IT vision of Yale. Identifies existing and emerging needs and defines appropriate business plans for satisfying these requirements in the context of relevant IT governance structures. 5. Develops close working relationships with senior IT staffs at the University and YNHHS, as well as departmental IT teams. Participates in standing and ad hoc meetings in the divisions to maintain alignment with organizational and operational goals. Represents and appropriately advocates for these needs across all units involved in comprehensive IT delivery. 6. Understands and structures capacity to support IT services from large scale projects to core applications and maintenance/service requests. Creates and maintains a clear, prioritized portfolio of IT projects with transparent status that identifies risks and dependencies. 7. Serves as a focal point for IT related questions, service requests and problem escalation/resolution. Orchestrates operational support when required. Coordinates and consults as required to diagnose and resolve complex problems. 8. Assists division(s) in planning IT expenses for the annual budget, understanding relevant rates and consumption patterns, and resolving billing issues. Required Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in a related field and five years of relevant management experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Advanced degree preferred. Required Skill/Ability 1: Demonstrated ability with HIPAA, HITECH, and other regulatory requirements relevant in a life-sciences research environment. Required Skill/Ability 2: Proven ability to lead through influence, build consensus, and demonstrate collaboration leading to effective results in a decentralized environment. Required Skill/Ability 3: Demonstrated understanding of current project management concepts and prior experience in the delivery of large-scale IT projects. Required Skill/Ability 4: Demonstrated commitment to and success in service and client satisfaction. Required Skill/Ability 5: Superior written and oral communications, supporting an ability to establish trust and create confidence. Preferred Education, Experience and Skills: Experience in delivery of technology services in a research-intensive academic medical setting strongly preferred. Weekend Hours Required?
