**Field Applications Engineer - WideBand** 15467BR San Diego, CA **Job Responsibilities** As a Field Applications Engineer you will provide customer, production, and engineering support for Government and Commercial IP-centric SATCOM systems. Support will include the production, test, deployment, documentation, training, operation and troubleshooting of SATCOM hubs and remote terminals. Work effectively with other ViaSat personnel from multiple disciplines; software, hardware and mechanical engineers as well as configuration management, production, test and technical publications staff. Perform on-site installations, formal acceptance tests, marketing demonstrations, and training of SATCOM equipment. Create and update training material, user manuals, procedures, and other related documentation. Support integration and troubleshooting of ViaSat equipment into customer-premises equipment. Install, analyze, configure and troubleshoot a variety of RF and IP/Networking equipment associated with SATCOM hubs. Operation of SATCOM hubs, including initial system configuration, performance monitoring, analyze statistical data, and resolve complex system problems. Interface with customers and other ViaSat support staff in a highly professional and effective manner. **Requirements** + 4+ years experience with commercial and military based SATCOM systems + Working knowledge of RF equipment, including up converters, down converters, spectrum analyzers, signal generators + Working knowledge of IP equipment, including configuration, application and troubleshooting of routers, switches, IP networks, and servers + RF Fundamentals + Linux and Solaris OS experience + Associate’s Degree in a technical discipline or equivalent work experience + US government position. US citizenship required. + Active Secret Clearance or active within the last two years + Ability to pass skills testing for grip and static strength, dynamic lifting and work/positional tolerances + Ability to travel up to 50% domestic and international **Preferences** + Experience with ViaSat SATCOM products including our Ka networks, and the EBEM and LinkWay products + Experience with SATCOM antenna equipment and installations + Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline + Working knowledge of IP encryption devices, RF equipment, standard test equipment + DVB-S2 waveform and communications theory + CCNA, IP networking Not only do you get to travel the world; while you are in Carlsbad you will enjoy the really great perks ViaSat has to offer.
