About Us: Volunteers of America of Greater Los Angeles is a large, national not-for-profit organization founded in 1896. We provide a variety of social services to Los Angeles area communities such as Head Start programs, Upward Bound college prep programs, veterans’ services, homeless shelters, low-income housing program as well as drug and alcohol rehabilitation. Learn more at The SSVF HMIS Specialist maintains data for veterans with families that have accessed the program. HMIS stands for Homeless Management Information System. HMIS is a local information technology system used to collect client-level data and data on the provision of housing and services to homeless individuals and families and persons at risk of homelessness. Responsibilities: The SSVF HMIS Specialist: • Verifies, corrects and enters participant information into centralized database; conducts regular audits to assure accuracy of data • Monitors database (HMIS) reports to assure consistency with other hard copy records and logs • Runs regular progress reports; creates customized reports to support shelter management and to provided other needed information • Coordinates with Case Managers and Intake staff to ensure HMIS intake requirements are met • Trains staff on database (HMIS) and answers questions relating to the system • Oversees the privacy/confidentiality notification processes to meet regulatory guidelines Requirements: • Bachelor's degree preferred • Experience using HMIS a plus • Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office suite as well as Internet proficiency required • Excellent oral and written communication skills Additional Requirements: • Experience working with veterans, people in recovery and/or homelessness individuals • Valid California driver's license, insurance and reliable transportation • U.S. Veteran strongly preferred VOALA is an Equal Opportunity Employer
