Overview The Salvation Army Empire State Division is currently seeking an on call Crisis Services Advocate for the Anew Center located in Jamestown, NY. This position will work variable hours as needed to help with program coverage. The Anew Center provides comprehensive services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, including operation of a 24 hour crisis hotline and emergency shelter, case management, and community outreach & education. Responsibilities The Crisis Services Advocate's job duties include, but are not limited to, the following: + Answer the Domestic Violence/Rape Crisis phone lines, including the 24 hour hotline. Assess needs, offer information and referrals, and provide crisis intervention to callers. + Initial approval of client admission into and completion of appropriate intake information, including the DHHS application. + Follow and appropriately enforce shelter rules to ensure the safety of all residents' and basic needs are met. + Maintain cleanliness of the shelter and resident rooms as necessary, which includes sorting donations, laundry, organizing supplies, etc. + Assist in food preparation and housekeeping duties as necessary. + Conduct a “walk through” of shelter throughout each shift. + Complete service reports, track statistics, and all other required paperwork. + Transport clients to shelter and various appointments as needed. + Maintain client confidentiality at all times. Qualifications + High School Diploma/GED and minimum one year relevant experience required. + Able to complete sexual assault training to become a Certified Rape Crisis Counselor. + Valid driver’s license meeting The Salvation Army insurance requirements.
