Coordinator, Admissions 497561 Position Type: Staff Position Number: 497561 Department: Enrollment Services Job Summary/Basic Function: JOB SUMMARY : Serves as Designated School Officer (DSO /ARO ) for international student visa/immigration compliance issues. Responsible for processing SEVIS I-20 and DS-2019 documents under the guidelines provided by the Department of Homeland Security for international students granted admission by Lamar University. Supports Assistant Director of Admissions Operations to oversee and organize the processes that insure accurate and detailed processing of information and documents relating to University Admission. Performs highly responsible administrative work relating to the structure and design of the admission process. Reviews applications and related academic documents, utilizing data from multiple sources. Reviews, and corrects when necessary, electronic and hard copy files for official university reports. Compiles ongoing statistical reports on admissions processing. Maintains electronic files and databases to track applicants, admission documents and communications. Processes information, including, but not limited to I-20's, applications, test scores, documents and transcripts. Provides ongoing training of the data entry staff to insure the timely and accurate entry of all admission data. Provides daily reporting of the incoming workload and makes recommendations to Assistant Director of Admissions distribution of workload within the data entry staff. Coordinates admission procedures and activities with University academic colleges, departments and administrative offices. When necessary, assists applicants, students, parents and members of the public with the admissions process, answering detailed questions and providing accurate admissions information. Organizes, maintains and generates electronic reports. Reviews documents and credentials to determine eligibility of students. Purges hard copy and computer files in accordance with university policies. Builds and maintains permanent university files for international applicants through imaging. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Processes I-20s in SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information Systems) for new students and all related certification requirement records for entry into the United States, and updates SEVIS files; reviews all required documents and processes DS-2019 for J1 Exchange Visitors and their dependents Serves as Designated School Officer (DSO /ARO ) for student visa/immigration compliance issues Processes SEVIS I-20 and DS-2019 under the guidelines provided by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS ); Collects and reviews documents; updates records to reflect and changes; responding to questions via email and telephone Assist in the preparation of ongoing training of data entry staff Organize and oversee daily data entry operations for undergraduate, graduate, and academic partnership applications Develop, generate, and reconcile reports Organize and maintain electronic and hardcopy admission data files Review documents and credentials (domestic and international) for authenticity and accuracy Assist university academic and administrative units with the application process REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS : Supervision Received: Reports directly to and the Associate Director of International Admissions and the Assistant Director of Admissions Operations. Performs work with a high level of independence. Minimum Qualifications: MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS : U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (required to be authorized on government systems) Extensive knowledge of database and word processing systems. A detailed knowledge of the screens and admission processes of the Banner, Axiom and Xtender Systems. EDUCATION : Bachelor s Degree Required EXPERIENCE : Minimum two years experience with, and demonstrated detailed use of the Banner operational system. S
