Requisition Number 17-2637 Post Date 12/8/2017 Title Youth Service City Hollister State CA Description The Salvation Army Golden State Division Hollister Corps POSITION: Youth Worker SUPERVISOR: Corps Officer(s) STATUS: Part-Time/Non-Exempt - 15 hours/week (Position is contingent on grant funding as is not to exceed one year in duration) OVERVIEW: To develop children and youth ministry programs that will attract children and youth of the community to the Corps, as well as promote Christian growth in the participants. DUTIES • Coordinate, plan and lead Sunday kids’ morning assembly and Sunday School class. • Coordinate, plan and lead the weekly youth Sunbeam, Girl Guard and Adventure Corps programs. • Keep all attendance records and prepare all statistics and youth reports as required by DHQ. • Keep records of the families of the children attending programs. • Maintain constant communication with parents of children attending weekly programs. • Coordinate, plan and lead Young People’s League (ages 13-18) in a weekly basis. • Encourage people in the youth programs of the corps in their Christian faith, development, and evangelism. • Assist with weekly youth music program. • Create and distribute outreach material in order to promote Corps programs in the community. • Coordinate and chaperone kids and youth camps throughout the year (includes weekends). • Assist in Christmas and other holiday’s activities as follows and as directed by the Corps Officer: • Assist when needed with the fundraising efforts of the corps. • Help with the planning and executing of holiday’s services. • Make yourself available when called upon for the special events during the holiday seasons (i.e. special youth programs, musicals, etc.) Requirements QUALIFICATIONS • High School Diploma. • Preferred 2 years of experience with kids and youth Christian programs. • Exhibit a positive Christian attitude and behavior at all times while on duty. • The Salvation Army is a church with standards of accountability, integrity and deportment. As an employee, you will abide by these standards while on duty. • Must be minimum 21 years of age and have a valid driver license. • Bilingual, English/Spanish, both oral and written skills. • Flexible and available on evenings and weekends. • Leadership skills and able to work well with volunteers. • Responsible and punctual. • Able to walk and stand for long periods of time and be able to lift 20 lbs.
