Act as the staff liaison on all medication issues with The Salvation Army, Hope Harbor management, and all relevant Veterans Administration Health Center departments, and Los Angeles County (SAPC) Substance Abuse Presentation Control 2. Regularly review safety and accuracy of all medications taken by Hope Harbor Center’s residents 3. Ensure compliance with regulated procedures and systems of storing, handling, and monitoring the taking of medications 4. Participate in daily counts of scheduled and controlled substances 5. Communicate regularly with the Clinical Manger Director regarding any changes or challenges to procedures 6. Discuss professional and program development in coordination with the Director, develop and implement on-going medication and health training for new clients and staff members training. 7. Understand, maintain, and improve procedures for the handling of medications (including scheduled and controlled substances) 8. Accurately assess the biological and psychosocial needs of each resident’s medications in relation to their health needs 9. Provide support, encouragement, and crisis intervention as needed 10. Conduct Health Education Groups once weekly for clients on varies of health issues. Qualified applicants with criminal histories will be considered for the position in a manner consistent with the Los Angeles Fair Chance Initiative. Requirements SKILLS,KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES: 1. Knowledge of, and experience working with, sub-populations of the homeless, substance abusers, and the mentally ill a definite plus 2. Ability to work in a multi-cultural multi-service delivery environment 3. Must have written and verbal communication skills appropriate for responsibilities 4. Ability to work as part of a leadership team with Directors of the Hope Harbor. 5. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel Definite plus working with Veteran status or experience working with veterans valuable. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. License Register Nurse (RN) Prior knowledge in Medication Management, human services, or related field 2. 3 years’ experience must be able to work in high demanding environment with multiple priorities. 3. Must accept risk of exposure to communicable diseases and occasional combativeness from clients 4. Must obtain First Aid/CPR certification and pass health screening within the 90 days of employment. 6. Must receive TB testing in 30 days of employment once a year Must have good audio and visual perception to assist residents in emergency situations PAYRATE: $25/hr.
