Requisition Number 17-1401 Post Date 7/14/2017 Title Teacher City San Francisco State CA Description The Salvation Army Golden State Division San Francisco Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center POSITION: Afterschool General Program Attendant (Teacher) SUPERVISOR: Education Program Director STATUS: Non-Exempt/Part-time (20-25 Hours/Week) OVERVIEW: The Afterschool General Program Attendant is responsible for assisting the Education Program Director in the smooth operations of the After School and Literacy programs. These programs are operational during the academic school year (August – May), Monday through Friday, from approximately 2:00 pm – 6:30 pm primarily working with elementary school age children. This person is also responsible for insuring that all the facilities and programs of the SF RJKCCC operate properly and according to plan and schedule if assigned to work other venue locations within the community center including Summer Day Camp. This position is also responsible for carrying out all of the special assignments issued. The Kroc Center is conveniently located within a 5 minute walk of the Civic Center/Powell Bart Station. Pay starts at $14.00+/hour. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS: • Bilingual skills in Vietnamese, Chinese and/or Spanish (highly desired). • Must be available to work Monday through Friday from 2:00pm – 6:30pm. Please list on cover letter and/or email that you are available to work during these days and times. • HS graduate required. • Must be at least 18 years of age. • Must have command of the English language and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Must be able to tutor all Kindergarten through 8th grade school subjects. Experience working with 1st grade students is a plus. • Ability to effectively lead children through tasks, maintain class guidelines, encourage positive student morale, and be a positive role model to the children. • Experience in education, park & recreation, working with children and/or creative enrichment lesson planning is desirable. • Comfortable with and able to enforce program rules and policies and adhere to student disciplinary policies. • Flexible, open to new experiences, ability to handle a diverse set of duties and responsibilities. • Demonstrated ability to listen and follow-through on instructions and work well under pressure and deadlines. • Energetic, enthusiastic, creative, and initiative a must. • Must have computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Powerpoint. • Ability to set goals, priorities, plans and organizes work. • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to carry out multi-tasks efficiently and accurately. • Maintain highest level of integrity and confidentiality in all areas of personnel, programs and operations. • Maintain good rapport and communication with other staff members, corps personnel and the public. • Detail oriented with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as a member of a team. • Must possess and demonstrate an ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds. • Knowledge of Salvation Army mission, programs, practices, policies and organization desirable. • Ability to lift and carry 40 lbs.
