Requisition Number 17-1725 Post Date 8/31/2017 Title Development Assistant City San Francisco State CA Description OVERVIEW: This position is responsible for providing efficient administrative, organizational and secretarial support to the Golden State Division Financial Development and Planned Giving Directors within the San Francisco and Peninsula regions. Duties: 1. Be familiar with the goals and objectives, organizational structure and reporting hierarchy of all Salvation Army operations within the Golden State Division. • Have a thorough understanding of the purposes and functions of Salvation Army programs and operations throughout the Golden State Division. 2. Have a basic knowledge of all fund development techniques, with a full and comprehensive understanding of planned giving and financial development principles and techniques. • Adhere to policies and procedures, making recommendations that will improve the overall efficiency and performance of fund development. 3. Provide efficient and effective administrative and project management support to the Financial Development and Planned Giving Directors. • Monitor all incoming calls in a friendly and businesslike manner, demonstrating sufficient knowledge to answer basic inquiries. • Reply to general correspondence and inquiries as appropriate. • Process and control gift reports for Planned Giving and Financial Development production, ensuring accuracy of information. • Maintain donor records, ensuring accuracy and up-to-date information on donor files. • Prepare and issue illustrations of charitable gift annuities on Crescendo as required by Planned Giving Directors, maintaining records and follow-up correspondence as needed. • Ensure donations are promptly acknowledged, coded and notified to Donor Stewardship for inclusion on the Divisional centralized donor database (“Donor Central”). • Complete Completed Gift reports and maintain donor information on the Donor Central as appropriate. • Assist in the development of appropriate letters and marketing materials to support the cultivation process. • Confirm appointments with Donors, Prospects, and Advisor on behalf of the Planned Giving Directors and the Financial Development Directors • Supplemental follow up with $1000+ donors on behalf of and as assigned by the Financial Development Directors and Planned Giving Directors • Coordinate with Volunteer(s) as needed for projects ; work with SF Metro Volunteer Coordinator for recruitment of volunteers. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS • HS graduate. • Minimum 3 years experience in business and office duties • Must possess and demonstrate an ability to work with people, including community groups, participants, campers, and staff in an affable, concerned and caring manner. • Must display the ability to and be accountable for the efficient scheduling of time and resources made available to perform tasks at hand. • Strong oral and written communication skills. • Self-motivated and have ability to motivate others. • Able to take initiative. • Able to meet deadlines and work under pressure. • Detail oriented, accurate and precise. • Maintain accurate filing systems. • Capable of handling and controlling multiple projects. • Demonstrate leadership skills with strong team player attitude. • Capable of maintaining high level of integrity. • Maintain confidentiality. • Energetic, personable and dependable. • Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds. • Must possess a valid driver license. • Computer literate in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, required. Microsoft PowerPoint and Lotus Notes helpful. • Knowledge of Salvation Army practices and organization desirable. • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis • Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead • Ability to operate telephone • Ability to operate a desktop or laptop computer • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. • Ability to access and produce information from a computer • Ability to understand written information Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
