Requisition Number 17-2071 Post Date 10/11/2017 Title Counselor City San Francisco State CA Description The Salvation Army Golden State Division San Francisco Harbor Light POSITION: Recovery Counselor SUPERVISOR: Harbor Light Program Director DEPARTMENT: Harbor Light Center STATUS: Full-Time/Non-Exempt (Hourly) 40 hours per week OVERVIEW: The Recovery Counselor works closely with the Program Director and is responsible for client screening/assessment and to carry out case management counseling services for clients in the Harbor Light Center. Requirements DUTIES: 1. Assist as directed by the Program Director and/or Executive Director in the discharge of clients from the Harbor Light Program. 2. Assist in administration and documentation of U.A. (Urine Analysis). 3. Assists in the screening, diagnosis, and stabilization of all clients under our treatment contracts. 4. Complete discharge documentation on each client to include aftercare plan, referral and letters to referring agencies. 5. Maintain case records in accordance with Harbor Light Center standards. 6. Provide outreach and network services with other agencies to build a referral base as needed for individual or program services. 7. To attend and participate in assigned staff meetings and work as a team with other staff. 8. To evaluate resident progress during all phases of the program including house duty and participation. 9. To provide case management counseling as assigned by the Program Director. 10. To provide individual and group counseling including Education and Process Groups. 11. To carry out other duties as assigned by the Program Director. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. 2 years’ experience in substance abuse counseling. 2. Certification in substance abuse counseling or field related credentialing a requirement. 3. Experience in individual and group counseling in social model residential treatment setting. 4. 4 years clean and sober if in recovery. 5. Knowledge of community resources and linkages with Multi-Diagnosis and Substances Abuse Recovery communities. 6. Computer literate with aptitude for verbal and written communication. 7. Criminal background check, TB (Tuberculosis) clearance, and wellness exam required post job offer. 8. Ability to follow reasonable ergonomic accommodations, sit for long intervals, walk, stand, reach, bend, lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
