Requisition Number 17-2453 Post Date 11/20/2017 Title CRG - ArcherySlingshot Director City Scott Valley State CA Description POSITION: Archery/Sling Shot Director SUPERVISOR: Program Director DEPARTMENT: Camp Redwood Glen STATUS: Summer Camp OVERVIEW: You will be able to teach campers the basics of using compound bows at the archery range and how to use a slingshot with paintballs during the camper’s free time at the slingshot platform. The objective of the Archery/Sling Shot Director is to plan and implement a safe program to teach campers throughout the week about the basics of archery & using a slingshot, maintain a clean course, maintain a high standard of safety, and to establish & administer a safe, enjoyable, and educational program of archery and sling shots. DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: 1. Plan, organize, and lead an interesting & meaningful archery/sling shot programs for all campers 2. Provide opportunities for campers to learn about and increase their archery and sling shot skills 3. Responsible for overseeing cleanliness and neatness of the Sling Shot & Archery areas, maintaining good organization of program supplies, ensuring that materials are handled & stored properly and are not misused 4. Conduct inventory prior to opening of camp, determining archery equipment and supply needs 5. Conduct an inventory at the close of camp providing camp administration with a list of supplies and equipment to assist in assessing supply needs for following summer 6. Assume responsibility for supervision and instruction for Salvation Army Program’s (badge classes & Music/art classes) as assigned by program schedule 7. Maintain a high standard of safety, developing rules for conduct in program area 8. Conduct a daily check of equipment in archery area for safety and to be in good repair 9. Keep records of participant’s progress; help them progress from beginner to advanced levels 10. Evaluate current season and make suggestions for the following season 11. Assist with the opening and closing day procedures as requested by Program or Camp Director 12. Assist Program Director in preparing and actively participating in camp evening programs 13. Any other duties as assigned by your supervisor Spend time with, befriend, and interact with all counselors & campers in order to foster a quality camping experience in accordance with the stated goals of The Salvation Army’s camping program 14. Be an appropriate & effective example for both campers and staff members, exhibiting Christ-like conduct, concern, and service 15. Report any suspected child abuse issues to the Program Director and take necessary actions to report it properly 16. Report general property maintenance issues to Facilities Manager or Maintenance Crew Chief 17. Assist the Camp Director or Program Director in any other duties as requested in order to maintain a consistently high level of efficiency in the operation of the camp. 18. All staff may be called upon at any time to assist in the total operation of the camp. You are expected to join in all evening programs; absences are excused only through the Program Director. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Must be at least 18 years of age 2. Must have interest, knowledge, and skills in archery & sling shots 3. Must have basic certification from N.A.A. 4. Must have the ability to teach others, particularly young children (8-18 years old) 5. Must be of good moral character 6. Must understand the importance of enforcing safety guidelines with all participants PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 1. Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. 2. Ability to grasp, push and pull objects and tools 3.
