Requisition Number 17-2461 Post Date 11/20/2017 Title CRG - Chrsitian Education Lead - Teaching City Scott Valley State CA Description POSITION: Christian Education Lead-Teaching SUPERVISOR: DYS/Program Director DEPARTMENT: Camp Redwood Glen STATUS: Summer Camp OVERVIEW: Through the tools of storytelling, skits, music, and games you are responsible for teaching the daily core values of the summers’ theme to aid in the spiritual formation of campers and staff. Working in conjunction with the CE Media Lead and the DYS’s, you will be responsible for the planning, creative development, and execution of daily teachings, working with the camp band and their leadership, chapel services, campfire devotions, and overall stewardship of staff and camper’s faith formation. The objective of the CE Teaching Lead is to teach, program chapel services, and to help organize, coordinate, and oversee the Christian education and devotional portions of camp. DUTIES: 1. Encourage, and support cabin devotions 2. Prepare & deliver campfire/cabin devotions as assigned 3. Communicate openly with Unit Leaders concerning perceived weaknesses or potential problems with cabin devotions 4. Provide resources and assistance to Cabin Leaders for use in cabin devotional activities 5. Assist with the planning, organization, and coordination of morning Chapel (devotions) for all campers 6. Responsible to oversee and coordinate AV setup for chapel with the CE Media Lead, securing props and material for program use 7. Provide creative support for the development of an interactive learning space for staff focused on Spiritual growth and formation 8. Assist with the planning, organization, and coordination of worship services for campers utilizing creativity and innovation for services which not only appeal to, but clearly communicate the gospel to children at camp. Services should involve the participation of other staff as appropriate 9. Encourage the development of the spiritual lives of camp staff members through conversation, prayer request/praise list, etc. 10. Conduct an inventory prior to the start of camp, and at the close of camp 11. Keep chapel, media box, and upper CE room clean and ready for use at all times 12. Prepare activities/supervise campers during Free Time 13. Assist Program Director in preparation for evening programs, providing input with creative ideas, gathering and readying supplies and props, setting up, and assisting with implementation of activities 14. Assist with registration procedures as directed by the Program Director 15. Any other duties as assigned by the DYS’s 16. Assist the Program Director in any other duty as requested to maintain a consistently high level of efficiency in the operation of the camp. Encourage, and support cabin devotions (this does not require Asst.CE Director to be in a cabin for devotions every night, this person should have a general understanding of the implementation and effectiveness of devotions in respective cabins) 18. Prepare & deliver campfire/cabin devotions as assigned. 19. Communicate openly with Unit Leaders concerning perceived weaknesses or potential problems with cabin devotions 20. Provide resources and assistance to counselors for use in cabin devotional activities 21. Assist with the planning, organization, and coordination of morning Chapel (devotions) for all campers. 22. Responsible to oversee and coordinate AV setup for chapel, securing props and material for program use. 23. Provide creative support for the development of an interactive learning space for staff focused on Spiritual growth and formation. 24. Assist with the planning, organization, and coordination of Thursday morning worship services for campers utilizing creativity and innovation for services which not only appeal to , but clearly communicate the gospel to children at camp (services should involve the participation of other staff as appropriate) 25. Compile weekly list of seekers, a copy of seeker list should be given to the administrative office for statistical reporting 26. Encourage the development of the spiritual lives of camp staff members through conversation, prayer request/praise list, etc. 27. Conduct an inventory prior to the start of camp, and at the close of camp 28. Keep chapel and upper CE room neat, clean and ready for use 29. Prepare activities/supervise campers during Free Time 30. Assist Program Director in preparation for evening programs, providing input with creative ideas, gathering and readying supplies and props, setting up, and assisting with implementation of activities 31. Assist with registration procedures as directed by the Program Director 32. Any other duties as assigned by The Christian Education Director 33. Assist the Program Director in any other duty as requested in order to maintain a consistently high level of efficiency in the operation of the camp. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Must be at least 18 years of age 2. Must have skills and experience in program leadership and Christian discipleship 3. Must understand Christian camping and the spiritual growth goals of The Salvation Army’s camping program 4.
