Requisition Number 17-2452 Post Date 11/20/2017 Title CRG - Adventure Program Lead City Scott Valley State CA Description The Salvation Army Golden State Division CAMP REDWOOD GLEN POSITION: Adventure Program Lead SUPERVISOR: Program Director DEPARTMENT: Camp Redwood Glen STATUS: Summer Camp OVERVIEW: Get trained to be a Camp Redwood Glen facilitator on the High and Low Ropes course to support the Outdoor Adventure and Discovery Camp programs for 8-17-year-old campers. The objective of the Adventure Program Lead is to create an engaging interactive space that encourages creativity, investigation, & learning, to establish & administer a safe, enjoyable program, to assist Outdoor Adventure Camp with setup for their team building/high ropes activities, and to facilitate team building/adventure programming for older cabins, using activities in harmony with the goals and objectives of Camp Redwood Glen. Current CPR/First Aid with AED certification is required. Requirements DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: 1. Safely facilitate low rope activities for older Discovery Camp units utilizing Camp Redwood Glen’s team building values 2. Assist OAC Staff in safely facilitating high & low rope courses for OAC teenagers, while utilizing Camp Redwood Glen’s team building values 3. Assist in keeping the low & high rope courses clear of debris, branches, poison oak, and other potential hazards. Fill out Adventure Course maintenance forms for needed repairs & alert Program Director or OAC Director 4. Work collaboratively with the Outdoor Educator to help campers learn & explore while in the outdoors. 5. Be available to lead sunrise hikes as needed in support of the camp schedule 6. Utilize the outdoors & the ropes course as a program resource for program & counseling staff 7. Assist with the opening and closing day procedures as requested by the Program Director 8. Supervise free time activity areas, such as slingshot, pool, nature walks as assigned 9. Assist the Program Director in preparing and actively participating in camp evening programs 10. Any other duties as assigned by your supervisor 11. Assist the Camp Director in any other duty as requested in order to maintain a consistently high level of efficiency in the operation of the camp. All staff may be called upon at any time to assist in the total operation of the camp. You are expected to join in all evening programs; absences are excused only through the Program Director. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Must be at least 18 years of age 2. Must be of good health, have the ability to take campers and staff on hikes throughout the area 3. Must possess good moral character 4. Must possess a minimum of 15 documented training hours of hard skills (technical/ equipment management) & soft skills (facilitation/debriefing) PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 1. Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. 2. Ability to grasp, push and pull objects and tools 3.
