Requisition Number 17-1633 Post Date 8/22/2017 Title Program Assistant City Seaside State CA Description The Salvation Army Golden State Division Monterey Peninsula POSITION: Corps Helper SUPERVISOR: Assistant Corps Officer STATUS: Non-Exempt, Full-Time OVERVIEW: The role of the Corps Helper is to develop, direct, and coordinate the Monterey Peninsula Corps youth programs and to assist the Corps Officers with seasonal programs, corps programs and outreach. Requirements DUTIES: • Manage and direct Christian Education Programs i.e. Sunday School, Children’s Church, Troops, Jr. CCM. • Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers to help with various programs. o Information management: Create and send all youth related reports to DHQ in a timely manner. Submit weekly and monthly statistics for youth programs to appropriate officer. Create and maintain database of young people, parents, and leaders. Be responsible for communication with officers, directors, leaders, youth and parents. • Assist in the visitation of all Corps and program children via: home visitation. Participation in social service programs. Report all visitation to the appropriate officer. • Other Duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS • High School Diploma • Computer literate: Internet/Windows • Commitment to the mission and standards of The Salvation Army. • Must be organized, self-motivated, assertiveness, dependable and detail oriented. • The individual must be alert, mature and experienced in working in youth and adult recreation. • Must possess the ability to work under pressure, particularly caused by seasonal demands and special events PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. • Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead • Ability to operate telephone • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
