Requisition Number 17-0597 Post Date 3/13/2017 Title Counselor City Colorado Springs State CO Description RSCC Summer Day Camp Program Leader/Counselor Red Shield Community Center – Colorado Springs, Colorado The Salvation Army is seeking an individual to work as a full time, seasonal Day Camp Program Leader/Counselor. This position is for a 12-week time frame plus a minimum of 15 hours of training. The RSCC Day Camp Program Leader/Counselor is primarily responsible for assisting in the Red Shield Community Center’s Day Camp Program. This position will be responsible for a group of children during each week of Day Camp as well as leading various activities during the Day Camp Program. The Program Leader/Counselor shall work under direct supervision of the RSCC Director and work closely with other Day Camp staff. Requirements Position Qualifications: 1. High school diploma or equivalent, 3 months full time or part-time equivalent working and/or volunteering with children 2. Minimally 21 years of age 3. Valid Colorado Driver’s license. 4. Have a Christian experience that lends itself to understanding The Salvation Army standards, philosophy and policy with a willingness to adhere to it 5. Ability to communicate effectively with children, which will lead to building positive self-esteem and responsibility; A totally quiet person will not do well in this job 6. Ability to handle stressful situations and de-escalate situations 7. CPR and first aid training preferred 8.
