Requisition Number 17-2307 Post Date 11/2/2017 Title After School Program Coordinator City Colorado Springs State CO Description After School Program Leader II/Assistant Director Colorado Springs, Colorado SCOPE OF POSITION: The Salvation Army is seeking an individual who can be responsible for the children in the After-School Kids Program and execute daily program activities. The ultimate goal of the After-School Kids Program is for the child placed in our care to develop a strong sense of family values and experience holistic growth (spiritual, emotional and social) that will result in a recognition of who they are in Christ and will enhance The Salvation Army’s programing. Duties include open communication with parents, keep current on new programs, develop high quality programs to meet the recreational and educational needs of the community, tutor children with their school work, pick up children from school in TSA vehicle and transport to Red Shield and to scheduled fieldtrips. Works with and reports to the Red Shield Youth Director. This is a part-time position. Requirements POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: ? Minimally 21 years of age with a valid Colorado Driver’s License ? Understand The Salvation Army standards, philosophy and policy with a willingness to adhere to it. ? Must have at least 2 years college training and six months of verifiable full time or equivalent part time (paid or volunteer) experience (since the age of 18) in the care or supervision of four or more children ? Or 3 years’ verifiable full time or equivalent part time (paid or volunteer) experience in the care or supervision of 4 or more children. Also, must complete 6 semester hours or 40 clock hrs. of training in coursework applicable to school age children within the first 9 months of employment ? Ability to pass background check, finger printed ? CPR and first aid training preferred prior to employment ? Ability to communicate effectively with children which will lead to building positive self-esteem and responsibility. ? Ability to for see potential problems and correct them before they escalate ?
