**14073BR** **Title:** API-510/570 Inspector **Job Description:** Intertek is looking for an several API 510/570 Inspectors with Unit Support experience for an upcoming long-term project in the Texas Golden Triangle area. The Industrial Services division of Intertek Group is a global end-to-end services provider of technical verification, second party auditing, supplier evaluation, conformity assessment, asset integrity management, consulting and system certification. General Description of Responsibility: Monitor the execution of mechanical work in progress as it relates to existing pressure vessels to ensure that it complies with applicable codes, standards, and specific job requirements. **Essential Duties and Responsibilities:** The duties and responsibilities of the API-510 Pressure Vessel Inspector are oriented toward existing pressure vessels. The inspector should be able to check and perform calculations relative to in-service deterioration, repairs, rerates, or alterations, such as those included in the following: o Corrosion rates and inspection intervals. o Joint efficiencies. o Static head pressure o Internal pressure. o External pressure. o Pressure/hydro testing. o Impact testing. o Weld size for attachment welds at openings. o Nozzle reinforcement. o Welding procedure and qualification evaluation. o Inspection personnel should be familiar with non-destructive examination, including: ? Radiographic examination ? Liquid penetrant examination ? Magnetic Particle examination (Yoke and Prod techniques) ? Ultrasonic thickness measurement o Adopt an Intertek “Marketing and Sales” attitude in all client, vendor, employee, and outside contacts interactions. o Actively pursue continuing technical education courses or seminars. **Qualifications:** o Required: High School diploma or equivalent with at least 3 years experience in the design, construction, repair, operation, or inspection of pressure vessels, of which one year must be in supervision performance of inspection activities. o Preferred: 2-year degree or certificate in engineering or technology with at least 2 years of experience in the design, construction, repair, operation, or inspection of pressure vessels, of which one year must be in supervision performance of inspection activities. o Preferred: BS or higher in engineering with 1 year of experience in the supervision or performance of inspection activities as described in API 510 & API 570. o Currently certified as an API-510 and API-570. o Physical Requirements: ? Must demonstrate the ability to read the equivalent of the size and letters of the Jaeger II chart at a minimum distance of 12 inches and distinguish and differentiate the contrasts between colors illustrated on an Ishihara Test Chart. ? Shall be able to climb ladders/platforms to heights of 225 feet, in increments of up to 40 feet at one time. Any fear of heights (acrophobia) should be identified. ? Inspection personnel performing work on elevated piping shall be capable of wearing the required fall protection equipment. ? Inspection personnel shall be physically capable of crawling in and out of small manways, climb inside vessels, towers, heaters, or other confined spaces for inspection activities, often wearing Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) as required to comply with safety regulations. Any fear of closeness (claustrophobia) should be identified. ? Inspection personnel shall be able to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects weighing up to 40 pounds. ? Inspection personnel are required to work in both environmental conditions, inside and outside. Inspection personnel may be subject to extreme cold (temperatures below 32 degrees F for periods of more than one (1) hour) or to extreme heat (temperatures above 100 degrees F for periods of more than one (1) hour). o Inspection personnel shall possess fundamental written and verbal communication skills. o Inspection personnel shall be fluent (written and verbal) in the English language. o Computer skills, especially familiarity with MS Office applications, are necessary. ?We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and do not discriminate against applicants due to veterans status or on the basis of disability.
