Under the general supervision of the Pool Manager, this position is responsible for the safety and maintenance work for a State Park aquatic facility. Ensures the safety and well-being of visitors and staff by protecting life and preventing accidents. Enforces pool policies, rules and regulations. Responsibilities include swimming pool maintenance, facility maintenance, revenue collection, concession operations and providing information to the public. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations and procedures. POSTING NUMBER: 18-00403 Qualification Guidelines MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: + Completion of 8th grade. Experience: + None required. Licensure: + If driving is required, applicant must possess a valid State driver's license; + Must possess or be able to obtain, within 30 days of employment, First Aid, CPR and Lifeguard certifications from a TPWD approved lifeguard certification training program. NOTE: Retention of position contingent upon obtaining and maintaining required certification. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities + Knowledge of water hazards, lifesaving procedures and other rescue methods; + Knowledge of basic facility cleaning and sanitation techniques; + Skill in basic swimming strokes; + Skill in providing quality customer service in a courteous and professional manner; + Skill in establishing and maintaining effective work relationships with co-workers and work-related contacts; + Skill in effective verbal and written communication; + Ability to work independently with little or no supervision; + Ability to work under stressful conditions; + Ability to use a cash register; + Ability to account for revenue collection; + Ability to maintain a minimum of four hours of in-service training per month; + Ability to train, supervise and lead other staff in the execution of the pools operation and maintenance program. Additional Information WORKING CONDITIONS: + Required to work 10 to 40 hours per week with hours other than 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and days off other than Saturdays, Sundays and holidays; + Hours may be reduced or extended as needed through primary peak season from March to September; + Required to adjust to changing schedules; + Required to perform work outdoors, occasionally in adverse weather conditions; + Must conform to agency work rules, safety program and dress and grooming standards; + Must be at least 16 years of age; + Non-smoking work environment in State buildings and vehicles; + This position will fluctuate between part-time and full-time status throughout the term of employment. Changing from part-time to full-time and vice versa may impact the amount of leave accrued and health insurance rates; + Position contingent upon funding.
