Northrop Grumman Technology Services \(NGTS\) seeks to fill a Manager Level 3 position for theMechanical DepartmentManager in the Engineering and Systems Integration \(ESI\) Engineering Homeroom \(EHR\) in either Ogden, UT or San Bernardino, CA\. This is a dual role encompassing both people leadership and technical performance\. Typical roles and responsibilities include: ·People and technical leadership of a mechanical engineering analysis and design organization consisting of more than 100 engineers and multiple direct reports, including 10 section managers and 3 Technical Fellows located at two sites\. ·Performance management, career development, staffing, and merit planning for the department ·Technical and managerial oversight for activities performed by the group ·Ownership of and direction for the processes and procedures used by the group ·Lead proposal efforts, provide proposal inputs and review proposal content for both internal and external customers ·Lead department initiatives, recruiting, technology roadmap creation, cross\-campus/sector involvement, and NCTA projects The Mechanical Department Manager is also responsible for staffing and workload forecast; employee inclusion, engagement, mentoring and career development; employee training and identification and training of skills required to execute programs\. The responsibilities include the recruiting, sourcing, onboarding, performance management and contract maintenance for contractors working in the business area\. The successful candidate will clearly demonstrate strong leadership and decision making skills to achieve sustainable top performance\. He/she will have a track record as an effective communicator and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders\. This candidate will demonstrate a commitment to ethics and integrity, and the capability to innovate while challenging traditional ways of doing business\. Demonstrated abilities to build diverse and inclusive teams with high levels of engagement including mentoring and coaching are a must\. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required\. This candidate will demonstrate a broad skill set that is balanced between interpersonal, business, and technical capabilities\. He/she will have a demonstrated ability to operate in a team environment and collaborate across the sector business areas as required to accomplish goals of the organization\. The candidate will work closely with directors and managers of other engineering disciplines, program directors and program managers\. The ideal candidate will also be able to champion change within the organization, to achieve competitive advantage for the business\. _Please view this short video for an overview of the screening process for this manager position:_ www\.northropgrumman\.com/SQMVideo Basic Qualifications: To be considered for this position, the candidate must minimally meet the requirements, knowledge, skills, and capabilities listed below: ·Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering,Physics or related technical discipline\. ·Minimum 5 years’hands\-on technical experience in one or more of the following engineering disciplines: structural analysis, shock & vibration, propulsion, fluid mechanics/dynamics, aerodynamics, heat transfer, structure/subsystem/mechanism design, project engineering/management ·Minimum 2 years’ experienceproviding technical leadership of an engineering team ·Active DoD Secret clearance Preferred Qualifications: Candidates with the following preferred knowledge, experience, skills and capabilities will be given preferential considerations\. ·Master's or PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Physics, or related technical discipline\. ·More than 10 years’ hands\-on technical experience in one or more of the following engineering disciplines: structural analysis, shock & vibration, propulsion, fluid mechanics/dynamics, aerodynamics, heat transfer, structure/subsystem/mechanism design, project engineering/management ·More than 3 years’ experience providing technical and managerial leadership of a diverse mechanical engineering team performing project engineering management, mechanical design, finite element analysis and computational fluid dynamics\. ·Demonstrated broad technical vision and leadership capabilities ·Active Top Secret DoD Secret clearance Northrop Grumman is committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce\.
