What you’ll be doing... The Learning & Development team is an integral part of Verizon Telematics’ Operational Excellence and Business Transformation organization. The group is responsible for the design and delivery of learning solutions to employees, third-party vendors and customers. We enable outcomes related to sales, customer service, customer success, product knowledge and processes improvement. By partnering with corporate functions such as Customer Care, Sales, Product and the Project Management organizations, the team takes a consultative approach to elevate individual, center/team, and organizational knowledge, inspire stronger performance and improve business results and the customer experience. In the Senior Manager, Instructional Design role you are responsible for leading the design arm of the team. You know that relationships, business acumen, flexibility and sustainable results are cornerstones for success. Using a performance consulting approach powered by your deep instructional design expertise, you will partner with key leaders in the business to build strong relationships, a strategy and a process for enabling and accelerating results. You know what managing the learning clock means and know how to create diversity to balance all learning styles. With your internal customers and your team, you have a direct and persuasive approach to help manage workload, expectations and outcomes. You stay connected to major L&D trends and find opportunities to bring new ideas that will enhance our results. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES + Provide strong leadership, development, coaching and strategic vision for direct report team of 7 as well as the broader L&D organization + Inspire thought leadership to the training function and all aspects of strategy, design, and delivery (e.g. strategic roadmap, tactical plans, leader guides, knowledge management, training content, processes, documentation, examinations) for all lines of business + Responsible for leveraging the team to create and execute global learning and development strategies + Establish and maintain positive business relationships with strategic stakeholders and vendor partners + Perpetuate a model of continuous improvement with regard to processes; evaluating the performance of both the team and its work in order to gain efficiency and improved results + Provide regular executive summaries on effectiveness of training programs, including course evaluations, pre/post examination, impact on business and ROI + Ensure that all training material follow design and development standards, adult learning principles, and regulatory requirements + Actively encourage the creation and implementation of best practices to bolster team performance and content quality + Proactively identify and assess current and future learning needs within the business + Align all learning initiatives with the needs of the individual business functions, as well as integrating the company’s employee values + Manage projects including developing and overseeing project plans, schedules, budgets and employee resource plans. + Partner with other L&D leaders to develop and maintain a positive culture, collaboration and teambuilding + Invest time to build the skills of the internal team; always aiming to raise the bar + Identify and implement new tools and platforms as needed What we’re looking for... + Demonstrated passion for the leadership and ongoing development of learning professionals + Minimum of 12 years of experience in leading education, training development and delivery functions + Successful track record of identifying key talent and developing future leaders + High degree of knowledge and practice with training industry trends and tools, adult learning principles, theories, concepts and development technologies or modalities + Demonstration of extreme organization and planning skills + Verifiable record of achievement in design, development, and deployment of successful training programs that have a measurable impact on an organization + Proven track record of success in designing, developing, and delivering training for different audiences using a variety of delivery modalities + Highly-skilled in content review and editing, providing feedback to consultants on best practices + Keen attention to detail + Ability to develop and maintain a network or resources throughout the organization to support in the training development process + Highly advanced written and oral communication skills + Bachelor’s degree with a track record of strong academic/professional performance + Demonstrated creativity in the development and delivery of learning experiences and resources + Action-oriented, with a proven track record of material business results + Advanced active listening skills and interpersonal savvy to attract and retain the interest of an audience When you join Verizon...
