What you’ll be doing... Verizon is seeking an experienced and talented lawyer to support compliance and governance initiatives for its global Enterprise business unit. This is a unique and challenging position that entails working in a globally integrated business unit of a Fortune 15 technology company engaged in the providing solutions to our customers that deliver the digital world. This position offers the right candidate the opportunity to support a variety of activities in the emerging areas of Unified Communications, Security, and Managed Network Services. The ideal candidate will: + Provide analysis of complex transactions involving the support and delivery of high tech security, advanced communications, and managed network solutions to Fortune 1000, government, and other international multi-nationals. + Provide compliance advice on the applicability of various industry standards and certifications to Enterprise products and services. + Draft, develop, and oversee security and compliance policies and procedures to support internal and external audit and business governance and compliance activity. + Engage the business to ensure business governance by monitoring performance objectives, certifications, and related key performance indicators. + Provide day-to-day advice and counseling to Global Operations clients. + Coordinate with internal security, audit, IT, and other internal business clients to review business operations, identify compliance requirements, conduct risk assessments, remediate security and process gaps, and improve best practices. What we’re looking for... You will need to have: + JD Degree and six or more years of work experience + Six or more years of relevant work experience at a law firm/ government, and or corporation with a strong security, privacy, or high tech practice. + Experience with domestic and international data privacy and/ or security regulations. + Practical understanding and substantive knowledge of various industry standards, including data security requirements applicable to advanced technologies (e.g., PCI, FISMA, HIPAA, ISO 27000, NIST CSF, SSAE 16). + Member of a bar in good standing in at least one state Even better if you have: + Excellent academic record, including high performance at an accredited law school. + Experience with contract governance for high tech transactions. + Excellent writing, presentation, and communications skills. + IT, engineering, or operations background, a plus.
