As a Paralegal/Senior Paralegal, in Gaithersburg, MD, you’ll play a pivotal role in channeling our scientific capabilities to make a positive impact on changing patients’ lives. Main Duties and Responsibilities As a Paralegal/Senior Paralegal, your role is within the Product and Portfolio Legal Section of AstraZeneca's Global Legal Department and reports to a Senior Counsel. The primary responsibilities for your role include litigation/general legal support, discovery support, including custodian identification, interviews, document retention, collections, and productions, and preparing legal documents and templates (e.g., confidentiality, clinical and professional services agreements) under the direction of an attorney. This position will work closely with AstraZeneca attorneys, outside counsel, third party vendors, and AstraZeneca business colleagues. + Provide support in complex patent litigation, commercial litigation, product liability litigation, and investigation matters. + Appropriately document discovery processes and efforts. + Manage document, data and information collection and retention efforts + Identify relevant people in the business to provide information needed to support the company's litigation and investigations + Liaise with the business as needed for support + Assist with document discovery in relation to overall case strategy + Manage case-related vendor relationships and review vendor invoices for accuracy + Prepare, issue and maintain legal hold communications to staff including responding to questions and issues from custodians/system owners + Manage case related documentation and other information in a meaningful and accessible manner + Maintain collaborative relationships with IT and external discovery vendors and individuals in the businesses + Prepare drafts of routine to moderately complex legal documents and templates (e.g., confidentiality, clinical and professional services agreements) under the direction of an attorney Essential Requirements + Five or more years of law firm, corporate, or other relevant experience preferred + Experience in the pharmaceutical or biologics industry preferred + Ability and willingness to travel occasionally to and from Wilmington, DE and occasionally to other locations. + College education or equivalent in experience and training + Paralegal Certification (or other legal qualification with relevant work experience) + Excellent interpersonal and communication skills + Ability and willingness to be agile and flexible, working across a variety of types of matters + Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload + Problem solving and analytical thinking abilities + Maintain productive and collaborative relationships with internal and external counsel and key stakeholders + Ability to collaborate across the team both internally and externally to achieve objectives + Strong ethics and ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive business information Next Steps – Apply today!
