Welcome to your tomorrow! **A day in your life as a Vendor Risk Manager** Under the direction of the Manager, this position is responsible for all procurement activities for Bank of Hawaii, related vendor management, as well as contract negotiations for various projects, to the extent that there are questions relating to legal terms and conditions. Assists with the business unit’s compliance with applicable laws, regulations, regulatory requirements and Bank policies and procedures, including but not limited to those related to Fair Banking, Anti-Money Laundering laws and regulations, Bank Secrecy Act and USA PATRIOT Act. In addition, this position is responsible for serving as the Excellence in Sales/Service (ESS) champion for the unit. This includes planning, executing, monitoring and measuring the service process. **We’ll give you these important responsibilities…** * Maintains and updates the company’s vendor risk management program (the program). * Formulates, recommends, and manages the Bank’s acquisition strategy, policy, and procedures. * Manages and approves the “authorized vendor” policy and procedures. * Develops, manages and promotes improved vendor negotiation, contract review, and cross-corporate communications. * Mitigates corporate risk by negotiating improved contract terms and managing the corporate vendor risk management program and policies. * Personally approves unit negotiation strategies and modifications to agreements. * Ensures guidance and due diligence is applied to the selection and on-going monitoring of key vendors to include appropriate documentation, testing of controls and site visits, in line with regulatory and audit expectations. * Enforces vendor or partner compliance with negotiated service levels. * Reports problem escalation and negotiation impasses to management. * In tandem with Information Technology, maintains an ongoing service and operational level of contact with Core System Vendors and their management. * Identifies problem, escalates problem to Core System Vendors, tracks and ensures timely resolution. * Coordinates personnel activities and changes. * Responsible for the management of all employees in the department(s) including staffing and scheduling, compensation, performance management, training and development. * Goal is to attract, retain and motivate the team to achieve management business objectives and maintain a favorable employee relations climate. * Responsible for timely and effective management of Human Resources forms and documents relevant to immediate staff. * Provides input in the development of the Bank’s long and short range strategic planning. * Ensures support of business operational and systems enhancement needs, project oversight and execution, corporate acquisitions and divestitures. * Maintains knowledge of business, products, and systems to ensure effective use of vendor and procurement services. * Manages, and provides leadership direction over enterprise-wide contract issues such as federal mandates, audit requirements, policy taskforces, and other areas of significant corporate exposure. * Refers risk issues directly to Operational Risk Committee, Managing Committee and Bank of Hawaii Board of Directors. * Develops, approves, and manages form legal agreements, non-standard agreements, proposal requests, and specific legal terms and conditions. * Monitors and evaluates the effect of legislation and case law regarding terms and conditions in applicable jurisdictions and reviews research with legal or other industry experts. * Provides recommendations to Executive Management balancing business requirements with legal and contractual risk. * Performs all other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned. ## Qualifications **…if you come to us with these qualifications…** **Education:** * Four year college degree in financial audit, accounting, or related field or equivalent work experience. **Experience:** * Minimum 8 years of work experience in progressively responsible positions in corporate procurement or equivalent work experience, including at least 3 years of complex vendor negotiations experience, 3 years of drafting and/or reviewing complex commercial agreements, and a minimum of 3 years or significant project management responsibilities required. * Minimum of 3 years of lead/supervisory/managerial experience of technical professionals required. * Prior experience with technical business applications, knowledge of IT infrastructure and IT risks and controls preferred. * Banking and financial service industry experience preferred. **Technical Skills:** * Demonstrated proficiency and expertise with personal computers in a networked environment and Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint) or similar software. * Proficiency with Microsoft Project or similar software preferred. * Knowledge of or ability to use Bank software and systems. **Other Job Qualifications:** * Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, including presentation and negotiation skills. * Strategic thinker, able to develop strategies to support business unit requirements. * Able to understand, analyze, draft and modify legal provisions and conduct legal research. * Must be able to conduct presentations and facilitate group meetings. * Should be analytical, detail oriented, and organized in managing multi-project, multi-tasked responsibilities with varying deadlines. * Must have effective interpersonal skills and collaborative management style to include teamwork, team building, conflict management, and problem solving skills. * Able to understand and analyze technology, service, purchasing and pricing issues, as well as risk management principles. * Must be able to work flexible hours including holidays, weekends and evenings as needed or assigned. * Able to provide own transportation and commute to various locations. * Able to travel out-of-state as required. *All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment and will not be discriminated against on the basis of any legally protected classification including race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, or protected veteran status.
