Apply Now to be considered Under the direction of the RN, the BHT I provides direct patient care and participates in maintaining a safe and therapeutic milieu\. Assists licensed nursing staff by performing non\-technical skills and assisting patients with activities of daily living and self care on the unit\. Completes clerical and other front office functions related to clinical documentation\. Maintains the team work station when assigned\. Promotes and maintains a safe environment conducive to healing and health promotion\. Performs active milieu assessment while assigned to safety rounds\. Participates in the safe management of the milieu, intervening effectively with patients who behave inappropriately or who are having coping difficulty, utilizing effective de\-escalation techniques\. Identifies patient behaviors that contribute to development of a crisis; utilizes non\-verbal and verbal techniques to de\-escalate crisis situations\. Provides direct patient care and monitors ongoing status under the direction of the RN\. Vitals signs as assigned\. Required minimum education: High school diploma Preferred education: 2 year/Associates degree in Healthcare related field Minimum years and type of experience if no degree: 2 years of experience in mental health field This is a bargaining unit position\.
