Apply Now to be considered **BASIC PURPOSE** **:** Staff technologists are responsible for the timely reporting of quality patient results from their sections\. Staff technologist must utilize independent judgement during the performance of their jobs\. They must be available to provide assistance and instruction to fellow employees\. They work under the supervision of the Laboratory Manager and the technical guidance of the Lead Technologist\. **POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:** + Demonstrates awareness of patient’s growth and development needs, and is competent to perform processing of specimens phlebotomy on all age groups\. + Performs testing as needed to insure the accurate and timely reporting of results\. + Participates in all required inservices and maintains technical competence through appropriate on\-going education\. + Resolves technical problems and is available for consultation in the absence of the lead technologist\. + Performs required preventative maintenance procedures\. Performs troubleshooting when necessary\. Keeps instruments clean\. + Performs and monitors quality control procedures\. Initiates corrective action when indicated\. Participates in the quality improvement process and performance improvement program\. + Adheres to all established hospital and laboratory policies and procedures\. Complies with requirements of all regulatory agencies\. + Reviews logs as indicated, and relays test results by telephone or fax\. + Trains and orients new employees\. Provides technical assistance and support to other laboratory personnel\. + Demonstrates competence to perform testing in multiple technical areas, to work on multiple shifts, and at multiple locations\. + Monitors inventory and reports shortages or stock\-outs to the Lead Tech\. **EDUCATION, SPECIALIZED AND/OR TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:** 99. B\.S\. in health sciences or equivalent\. 99. Registry in medical technology or equivalent\. \(Registry eligible student graduates are acceptable\.\) 99. Medical terminology desirable\. 99.
