Tri-State Generation & TransmissionEngineer III, IV or Senior (System Protection - IRC24786Apply Now + Print + Save + Share Description The System Protection Engineer is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the engineering support for transmission system protection system equipment and disturbance monitoring equipment applied at voltages up to and including 500 kV class. Investigates outages, collects data, and assists with system restoration following disturbances and prepare reports as required. Directs the preparation of protection system coordination studies at periodic intervals and following outages. Requirements REQUIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS Education and Training + Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related area, power option preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Ability: + Extensive knowledge of relays, testing equipment, computer programs, terminals, and fault recorders. + Working knowledge of an interconnected power system. + Working knowledge of government regulations, reliability standards, and industry codes affecting electric utilities. + Working knowledge of safety policy and procedures. + Ability to direct the work of others. + Effective oral and written communication skills. + Ability to maintain effective working relationships. + Willingness to work outside under any conditions, as necessary. + Willingness to work around high voltage. Experience: + Eight (8) years of progressive experience in related area with electric utility transmission system protection system engineering support experience desired. Supervisory experience desired. Other: + Must be able to demonstrate that he/she can perform all of the essential functions of the position. + Willingness to travel up to 35% of the time on an annual basis. (Must possess a valid driver’s license.)
