Daily job duties include, but are not limited to: greeting patients and visitors; answering phone; preparing exam rooms; scheduling appointments and registering patients; answering phone and taking messages; preparing charts; verifying insurance and obtaining authorizations; scheduling and coordinating tests; retrieving and distributing results to physicians; preparing supplies and cleaning examination rooms; ordering supplies; recording patient history; taking vital signs and performing and assisting with procedures, examinations, and treatments; performing routine health assessments. Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills Knowledge normally acquired through a high school education; six months to one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in a medical office setting or in a clinical setting performing routine health assessment tests and obtaining vital signs; experience with electronic health record systems and patient scheduling systems; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be a certified medical assistant with current certification, which must be maintained for the duration of employment. Desired Qualifications Experience with multi-line phone system, insurance coding and authorizations; one year of work experience in a medical office clinical setting, including medical terminology; customer service and leadership skills; ability to multi-task, problem solve, and prioritize.
