We have an active and broad\-ranging program in nuclear physics, with electron scattering measurements at Jefferson Lab and proton scatting experiments at Fermilab\. Argonne is also the home of the search for the atomic EDM of radium\-225\. The Radium EDM experiment is a unique approach to the search for CP\-violation in the nucleus, using laser\-cooled and trapped radium atoms to search for physics beyond the Standard Model\. The current focus of the radium experiment is a series of upgrades that will culminate in a dramatic improvement to the apparatus’ sensitivity, including an advanced slower design, coherent population transfer with STIRAP, a high\-field electrode setup, and an atom transport stage based on adaptive optics\. The successful candidate will have a Ph\.D\. in atomic physics or related field, and experience in precision measurement or laser\-cooling and trapping atoms\. The position is for one \(1\) year, with the possibility of extension for up to three \(3\) years, depending on funding and performance\.
