The Intralign Surgical First Assistant (SFA) plays a key role in optimizing the surgical episode, as they support the surgeon in the OR, track performance against key efficiency metrics, and help identify opportunities for improvement. As the SFA, you will be responsible for performing first assistants’ duties in the operating room; you will not partake in clinical duties, hospital rounding or any kind of pre-op or post-op work. The SFA is part of the Intralign team of strategists, analysts, clinicians, and operational experts that drive improvements in the OR, to help hospitals operationalize value-based care delivery. The SFAs contributions in the OR directly means that the hospital can reduce costs, increase throughput and enhance clinical quality. Collaboration with analysts and operational experts means that you contribute to process improvement as well, beyond your support of the surgeon. Additional responsibilities of the Surgical First Assistant include: + Review all surgical patient’s surgical consent forms, history and physical prior to scrubbing if they are available; + Prep and drape surgical patients as needed and as requested by the Attending Surgeon; + Assist in surgery; + Close incision lines as requested by Attending Surgeon; + Tie superficial intra-operative sutures; + Perform intra-operative stapling as directed by the Attending Surgeon; + Administer local infiltrative anesthetic upon the request of the Attending Surgeon; + Irrigate wounds and incision as directed by the Attending Surgeon; + Participate in emergency resuscitation and stabilization if needed; + Apply and remove dressing and bandages; + Apply and remove cast, splints, and traction as directed by the Attending Surgeon; + Expedite Room Turnover. **Requirements** To qualify for the Surgical First Assistant, you must have a passion, a drive and enjoy working in the hospital surgery room. In addition, the right candidate will have the ability to work in a team environment with healthcare staff. Additional requirements of the Surgical First Assistant include: + Valid State License in one of the following: PA-C, MD, DO, ARNP; + Valid NCCPA Certification (if applicable); + Minimum 1 year of recent multi-specialty surgical first assist experience or equivalent; + Proficient experience and skills assisting in at least one of the following specialties of the following fields: General, Vascular, Orthopedics, Cardio-Thoracic, OB/GYN, Urology. Neurology, ENT & Plastics/Reconstructive; + Laparoscopic and Davinci Robotics experience preferred; + Active/Current Hepatitis vaccination; + BLS/ACLS Certification.When a PA-C or MD joins Intralign as a Surgical First Assist, you undergo extensive training in clinical and other areas.
