PRODUCTION MACHINE OPERAT Job Type:Temporary Location:Torrance, CA Post Date:01/13/2016 Job Description:SUMMARYThe Production Machine Operator individual performs the basic set up and operates automatic machines in accordance with established shop practices. .ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodation for disabilities may be made for one or more of the following:• Performs basic sets up and operates up to three automatic machines to produce parts according to blueprints, router package, specifications and/or special instructions.• Recognizes and detects machine out-of-tolerance and adjust controls or control media as required.• Performs basic trial runs to check accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.• Checks parts for conformance to specifications using gauges, SPC and shop floor system.• Recognizes and remedies minor machine malfunctioning and in-process inspections. Major discrepancies are reported to lead or supervisor.• Determines and performs proper feed and speed combinations.• Provide necessary information to Manufacturing team, Engineering Team or others to document procedures and drawings.• Performs work operations under supervision• Checks tooling and reworks as needed to keep machine running.• Lays out parts for successive and continuous machining operations.• Examine products to verify conformance to quality standards, by following blueprints or work instructions.• Performs record keeping, data entry, housekeeping, and follows all safety regulations.• Responsible for complying with the rules and regulations set forth by Federal, Local, and State government, LISI Aerospace, and HSE Procedures.• Responsible for attending all training provided and for adhering to all HSE procedures, policies, and plans, conforming to reporting requirements, and safe operating procedures at all times.• Required to bring any known or suspected nonconformance for all company procedures or legal requirements to management’s attention immediately.• Continually seek opportunities to improve our HSE performance by establishing objectives and targets, measuring progress, and reporting our results.• Works under recommended waste elimination initiatives specifically related to the manufacturing production function such as recycling opportunities to elimination or minimize production waste.• Performs a variety of other related duties as assigned.Ways of working, Experience, and BehaviorsTo perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:• Analytical - Collects and researches data; Uses experience to complement data; understands the work flows and procedures, production control, and knowledge of continuous improvement.• Technical Skills – Understands and has working knowledge of the manufacturing production control and use of machinery operation process, procedures and function; use and understand basic computer entry and processing skills.• Oral Communication - Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens intently to others and seeks clarification; Provides clear and pleasant responses to inquires regardless of the situation.• Team Work - Balances team and individual responsibilities; Exhibits objectivity and openness to others' views; Gives and welcomes feedback; Places success of team above own interests; Able to build morale and group commitments to goals and objectives;• Business Acumen - Understands business implications of decisions;• Cost Consciousness - Works within directions of the department’s resources.• Adaptability - Adapts to changes in the work environment; Adjust to production demand; Changes approach or method to best fit the situation; Able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.• Planning/Organizing - Prioritizes and plans work activities of self and others; Uses time efficiently; Plans for resources in a creative way only adding cost as absolutely necessary; Sets goals and objectives; Organizes or schedules other people and their tasks; Develops realistic action plans.• Professionalism - Approaches others in a tactful manner; Reacts well under pressure; Treats others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position; Accepts responsibility for own actions; Follows through on commitments.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis position has no supervisory responsibilities.ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS SKILLS AND ABILITIESEducation and/or Experience• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).• Working experience of manufacturing environment procedures• Minimum of 1 - 3 years experience and/or training within an Aerospace fastener manufacturing &/or industrial shop; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Language SkillsAbility to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Must be able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to Team Members of the organization.Mathematical SkillsAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Knowledge of basic shop math. Ability to calculate in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform these operations using units and weight measurement, volume, and distanceReasoning AbilityAbility to comprehend detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
