PRODUCTION ASSISTANT I Job Type:Full-Time Location:Torrance, CA Post Date:03/24/2016 Job Description:PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:Assist in production by performing duties of entry-level skills by sorting, partially or completely working at a bench or on the shop floor.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following; other duties may be assigned:• Operates gages used in the production process, such as thread, plug gages, snap gages and other gages as necessary• Operate database to provide workflow process and labor allocation to track and log current work assignment.• Removes small quantities of metal with hand files and scrapers to produce close fit between parts.• Untangle, sort, and rework according to knowledge of work instructions.• Examine products to verify conformance to quality standards, by following blueprints or work instructions.• Count and log finished products to determine if product orders are complete.• Record information such as the number of product conforming and also non conforming parts, and dates and times of product production.• Mark or tag identification on parts.• Load and unload items from productions machines manually or by using hand tools.• Reads blueprint or job order for product specification such as dimensions, tolerance, number or parts to be checked.• Performs record keeping, data entry, housekeeping, and follows safety regulations.• Adheres and implements all company HSE policies, procedures, and practicesWays of working, Experience, and BehaviorsTo perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:• Analytical - Synthesizes complex or diverse information; Uses experience to complement data; understands the work flows and procedures.• Technical Skills – Understands and has working knowledge of production processes, procedures and function; use and understand basic computer entry and processing skills.• Oral Communication - Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens intently to others and seeks clarification; Provides clear and pleasant responses to inquires regardless of the situation;• Team Work - Balances team and individual responsibilities; Exhibits objectivity and openness to others' views; Gives and welcomes feedback; Places success of team above own interests; Able to build morale and group commitments to goals and objectives;• Business Acumen - Understands business implications of decisions;• Cost Consciousness - Works within directions of the department’s resources.• Adaptability - Adapts to changes in the work environment; Manages competing demands; Changes approach or method to best fit the situation; Able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.• Planning/Organizing - Prioritizes and plans work activities of self; Uses time efficiently; Plans for resources in a creative way only adding cost as absolutely necessary; Sets goals and objectives; Develops realistic action plans.• Professionalism - Approaches others in a tactful manner; Reacts well under pressure; Treats others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position; Accepts responsibility for own actions; Follows through on commitments.Supervisory Responsibilities:This position has no supervisory duties.ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty adequately.
